Variations
- In 2011 Victorinox made a special run of fifty knives with blue Alox scales; the old silver Swiss cross; a series based serial number stamped at the base of the main blade (n/50); and Midshipman printed in the top advertising panel. The blue anodizing is a slightly darker shade that was not previously used on any regular production 93mm Alox models. It may have been used on some custom advertising models. This model is one of the five members of the Blue Marlinspike Series.
- In 2013 Victorinox issued two limited editions of fifty models each with black scales and n/50 *2013* etched on the main blade. One variation had a red shield, the other black.
History
The ribbed red Alox model (0.8280.20) with the old cross emblem on the scales was in production from 1986-1995. Before 1980 it had the model number 2228.
The 1980 Canadian distributor catalog names this model as the Woodsman.
